CHAPTER 6

Oh, little prince! Little by little, I came to understand your sad and little life.

오, 어린왕자! 너의 작고 슬픈 생활을 조금씩 알게됐다.

On the fourth day, I got to know the little prince more. The little prince's star is so small, he can see the sunset at anytime.

나흘째 되는날, 나는 어린왕자에 대해 더 알게 됐다. 어린왕자의 별은 엄청 작아서 아무때나 석양을 볼 수 있다.

If he wants to see the sunset, he only needs to move his chair a few steps forward.

만약 그가 석양을 보길 원한다면 그의 의자를 석양 방향으로 조금만 움직이면 된다.

"One day," he said to me, "I saw the sunset 44 times!"

"하루는" 어린왕자가 말했다. "석양을 44번이나 봤어요!"

CHAPTER 7

On the fifth day, he suddenly asks me, "Does a sheep eat flowers, too?"

다섯째 날, 어린왕자가 갑자기 나한테 물었다. "양이 꽃을 먹나요?"

I answer him, " A sheep eats anything."

나는 답해줬다. "양은 어떤것이든 다 먹는다."

"A sheep eats roses?"

"양이 장미도 먹나요?"

"Yes, sure."

"그럼 물론이지"

"But roses have thorns that are guarding it. What use are thorns?"

"근데 장미에 가시가 있어서 보호하잖아요. 가시는 어디에 사용되나요?"

I say what comes out of my mouth. "The thorns are no use at all."

나는 말해줬어요. "가시는 아무데도 쓰이지 않아"

"I don't believe you! Roses are weak, so they have thorns.

"나는 믿을 수 없어요! 장미는 약해요. 그래서 가시를 가지고 있어요

They think that thorns are perfect weapons. You really believe that the flowers..."

장미들은 가시가 완벽한 무기인줄 알고 있어요. 그렇게 믿고 있다구요.

I cry out, "No, no! I don't believe anything. Don't you see? I am very busy. I am fixing the plane. This is very important work for me."

나는 소리쳤다. "아니야! 나는 아무것도 안믿어! 너도 봤지? 나는 엄청 바빠. 나는 비행기를 고치고 있어. 이건 나에게 아주 중요한 일이야."

He looks at me. "Important work? You talk just like the men! you mix everything up together.." He is very angry.

어린왕자는 나를 봤다. "중요한 일? 당신도 어른들처럼 말하는 군요. 당신은 모든 것을 섞고 있어요.. 어린왕자는 매우 화났다.

"I know a man. He does not love anyone. He only loves numbers. All day he says over and over, just like you. 'I am busy, I do important work."

"나는 한 남자를 알고 있어요. 그는 아무도 사랑하지 않아요. 그는 오로지 숫자만 사랑해요. 매일 당신처럼 말해요. 나는 바뻐, 나는 중요한 일을 하고 있어."

"It is difficult for flowers to make thorns. But, do you think that is not important? Is the war between the sheep and the flowers not important?"

"꽃이 가시를 만드는건 어려운 일이에요. 그런데 당신은 중요하지 않다고 생각하는건가요? 양과 꽃들의 전쟁이 중요하지 않다는 건가요?

"There is only one flower in the world, but one little sheep can destroy it in a bite. You think that is not important!"

"세계에 단 한송이의 꽃이 있어요, 근데 한마리의 작은 양이 그걸 물어서 파괴할 수 있어요. 당신은 이게 안중요한가요!"

"If someone loves a flower, that flower is the only one in the world. He is happy just thinking about that flower. But if the sheep eats that flower, he loses everything. You think that is not important!"

만약 누군가 꽃을 사랑해요. 그 꽃은 세계에 한송이 밖에 없어요. 그는 꽃을 생각하며 행복해할거에요. 근데 만약에 양이 그 꽃을 먹는다면. 그는 모든것을 잃는 거에요. 그런데도 당신은 이게 중요하지 않다고 생각한다구요!

He cries with no sounds. I drop my tools. I take him in my arms. I say to him, "The flower that you love is not in danger. I can draw a mask for your sheep. I can.." I don't know what to say to him. 

어린왕자는 소리 없이 울었다. 나는 수리 도구를 놓았다. 나는 그의 어깨를 감싸 안았어요. 나는 어린왕자에게 말했어요. "너가 사랑하는 그 꽃은 위험하지 않아. 내가 양을 위한 입마개를 그려줄게. 내가.." 나는 어린왕자에게 무슨 말을 해줘야 될지 몰랐어요.
